What to expect as you recover …

Cerebrovascular stroke (CVS) is the medical term for a stroke. It happen when blood flow to a part of your brain is stopped either by a blockage or the rupture of a blood vessel. Due to bleeding, part of the brain not functioning properly.

Stroke Rehabilitation program

Dar El Mona’s Stroke Rehabilitation Program for those who have experienced a stroke focuses on helping the patient relearn skills that are lost when a stroke injures part of the brain. It also places emphasis on recovery and treatment for young stroke patients.

Our Program adheres to a holistic approach of treatment that constitutes of developing individualized treatment plan for every patient, depending on the patient’s specific needs, tapping into state-of-the-art medical care, technology, comprehensive educational services, education and training patient’s family to help identify risks that can lead to complications, including another stroke.

Brain injury often referred to PTBIS (Post Traumatic Brain Injury Syndrome) is a set of symptoms that a person may experience for weeks, months, years or life after a traumatic brain injury (TBI).

Brain Injury Rehabilitation Program

Dar El Mona’s Brain Injury Rehabilitation Program offers a full continuum of services to treat people who have experienced a traumatic or non-traumatic brain injury. This program adheres to a holistic approach of treatment that constitutes of developing a customized and integrated treatment plan for every patient, depending on the specific needs for each patient.

The treatment team includes physicians, nurses, physical and occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, neuropsychologists, psychologists, neuro-psychiatrists, social workers, therapeutic recreation specialists, and dieticians.

The Goals Brain Injury Rehabilitation Program:

  • Stabilize the medical and rehabilitation issues related to brain injury and other injuries.
  • Prevent secondary complications. Complications could include: pressure sores, pneumonia and contractures.
  • Restore lost functional abilities. Functional changes could include: limited ability to move, use the bathroom, talk, eat and think.
  • The staff will also provide adaptive devices or strategies to enhance functional independence.
  • The staff will begin to analyze with the family and the patient what changes might be required when the person goes home.

Speech Therapy

Cognitive Rehabilitation Program


This program is designed to help patients with stroke and traumatic brain injuries, who suffered from memory and concentration problems. Our program helps the patient to re learn cognitive skills that was impaired from the injury and if this skill cannot be re acquired, they will help the patient acquire new cognitive skill.


Bladder Rehabilitation Program


Bladder dysfunction is common following spinal cord injury, and up to 15% in cerebrovascular stroke. The main goal of this program is to increase the amount of time between emptying your bladder and the amount of fluids your bladder can hold. It also can diminish leakage and the sense of urgency associated with the problem.
